I've been working on our church office pc, and am going to need to do a

I have a local net with a desktop and a laptop.  They talk to each
other just fine, desktop sees laptop's shared folders just fine, but
laptop can't see desktop's, or even a network.  Both run XP pro with
all current required updates and most optional (except IE 7).

How can I solve this problem?  When I maximize a window and later shut
the computer down.  When I then start up the computer again that window
is in the restored position, not the maximized view.  What am I doing

I just recieved a computer from a friend that had a lot of programs
that I un-installed and cleaned up the hard drive. There is one

I can not logon to Windows XP SP2 in any mode.  At the logon stage of boot-up
I get a "system shutdown" (in 60 seconds) message initiated by either "\" or
"NT Authority\system" depending on which mode I am trying to logon with.
