Whenever I create a new word processing file and go to save it by
going to FILE>SAVE, the "save as" box that comes up automatically
defaults to the "My Documents" folder as the folder in which my new
file will be saved in.

I made a mistake and chkdsk converted my files into /FAT format.... Now I
cannot see my files using my XP system.
I know that these files 2800 files are in my hard drive.... How could I
recover these files so that I can see it in my XP system.

My sons computer has been infected by a virus that has changed all his exe
file to lnk files.  I am unable to open any program from the desktop or
Windows Explorer.
AVG has not found the problem nor has Adaware or Spybot.

Is there any difference between the format you get by using the Disk
Management tool found by opening Computer Management and the Quick Format
done by going to My Computer, right-clicking the drive and selecting Format
in the pop-out menu?

Can cleanmgr.exe be automated?  It seems that cleanmgr.exe doesn't support
command line options and hence it always pops up a windows requiring me to
specify which drive to be cleaned.  If so, it's useless to add it to a batch
file which can then be added as a scheduled task for ...

If we have more than one user logged on we can't seem to use the usual
"switch user" command without the whole show grinding to a halt.  The only
way to use XP is for just one user to be logged on at a time.  It didn't used
to be this way!

I am new to using extended desktop and am constantly frustrated by pop-ups
from applications (Word, NOtes etc) appearing in the primary window. Can I
make the popups appear on the screen they were instageted from. ?

when I start defrag in win xp pro, it quickly pauses for shadow copy. if I
unpause it, it pauses again. my c drive is not dirty (I checked) & running
defrag from a command line didn't defrag it at all
