I'm using XP SP2 with 2 internal hard drives, C and D.  The icon on my D
drive suddenly changed in Windows Explorer.  Its icon now looks like a
document, not the standard icon for a hard drive.  My C drive icon remains
okay, it hasn't changed.  Anyone know how I can bring back ...

Hi Running Windows xp pro, on a fairly new toshiba tecra computer.
It regularly turns shuts down with no apparent reason.
wondering if there is a common reason for this.

Is there something that I could do to solve this problem.  Every time I put
a cd in my cdrom Windows Reboot.  The CDROM is one year old and was really
used just 10 times at the max.  What driver or what else in windows could do
that?  Your help is greatly appreciated.

I was trying to download some software (the latest build of my
firewall/antivirus) and the process started well from the donor web site.  I
got to the bit where, in  a window, it says "Publisher could not be verified.
Are you sure you want to download this?"  ..I clicked "run".

I'm getting an error when I try to install MS products. I've experienced
this with FrontPage and Outlook.
The error refers to a issue with some hex address then directs me to report
this problem but that's it.

Hello,  I downloaded a little utility from Intel: ChipUtil.exe.  This is
supposed to give me which chipset I have.  It is a recent file Aug 2007.  I
don't understand why I can not make it work, I don't think that Intel is
putting files that will not work with XP Pro while that ...

I am running Windows XP on a Dell Latitude D610.  It is the home edition.
Interestingly, when I open My Computer, the flashlight (search) symbol
appears and the page is blank for about 15-20 seconds.  This is new.  Any

I have MS XP Home Edition with Zone Alarm and Avast Anti-virus. Until Zone
Alarm updates (about 3.5 minutes from start) and then only after Avast

I am trying to install XP SP2 on a machine using XP Home Edition. I get an
Access Denied message about half way through the install. The setuapi.log
file has 2 error 5 entries:
#E065 Parsing Addreg Section [Product.add.reg] in

When I click on All programs in the Start menu I just get
one column, so I have to scroll to get to the right program.
I've had more columns before and I want them back. How do
I accomplish that? I have XP service pack 2.

A week ago I began experiencing very slow, I should say extremely slow
download speeds.  During the past week I have:

MY PC has a PCI E x16, PCI E x1 and a PCI slot.  What's the blasted
difference and what are each meant for?
Are graphic cards only PCI E x16 or other types are also available?

I have some problems with Folders Options:File Types:
1: How do I delete some of the alternative actions for
file types? I cant delete them right away cause they are in grey.

Can somone tell me why my computer(windows xp, IE7) switches back to a
previous page, when I`m viewing another? Can this be fixed?
