All of a sudden, I'm getting the following message on my Properties
window for my CD-RW drive:
"A driver (service) for this device has been disabled.  An alternate
driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)"

I have "blocked sender" of a lot of spam in OE early today. If I restore the
system to a date a week ago will the blocked senders be unblocked?

I have reinstalled Windows Installer 3.1 and still no luck in solving my

I have scheduled a task to run at specified time. The tasks runs only if
logged in. Otheriwse it won't run. Any idea how to solve thiss?

The clock is missing on my taskbar and "show the clock" is greyed out in

Hi, I have xp and my internet provider is comcast. I cannot connect to the
internet. "cannot find service provider."

In windows 95 and 98 it was possible to open the registry and change the owner/registered users name. I am not able to fine this string in XP, is it no longer possible to change the users name from the registry? If it is could you provide the string I need to use to get to it.

Where I live there are a number of power surges, my UPS doesn't handle these
too well.
After several surges within 3 minutes I ended up with half the screen being
green which is "active" - ie mousing over produces "Click here to begin"

Somebody has changed my xp all basic dos commands to linux commands like
dir = ls
can any one please suggest me how to change / revert Basic dos commands.

I just tested the shutdown procedure for an APC RS900 power supply,
the driver for which was automatically installed when I plugged it
into the USB port. I set it to shut down at 10% remaining power, and
watched it run down as a test.

I am planning to upgrade my system to XP Pro from XP Home.  Since I have an
HP Laptop (hp dv4000), I believe I have more than enough power but I am
concerned about all the HP stuff they put in there when new.  Is there a good
way to identify all the drivers so that I don't get ...

i'm using xp home on a notebook.
whenever i go to my favorite internet cafe, windows seems to have 'lost' the
connection (wireless) even tho' the password has not changed.
i have to "repair" the connection - no ip addess, or 0.0.0.0.
