Is there anyway one can determine if the hosts file is being bypassed?
Today one of my scanners reported 17 spyware cookies, all of which are

I open H&S with Windows+F1, then type in my search "registry" (no
quotes). The client area goes completely white and H&S becomes non-
responsive; I have to kill it with Task Manager. This is repeatable:
H&S comes up normally, but dies when I try to do a search.

The last couple of nights, contrary to my usual habit, I have been putting
my HP Pavilion notebook computer on standby at night. This morning, I notice
that the system tray clock says 9:37 p.m., when it's actually 7:37 a.m.
What's up with that?

I have recently started to get a new error message in Windows XP Pro SP2.  It
occurs if I click Start->All Programs->highlight any folder in the start
menu->right click and select either "open" or "explore".  A box pops up labeled

XP Disk Management offers only NTSF format.
