Why does Defender give reports on a 'new' program (like to our Start menu)
in a link that's totally un-verifiable??? I copied the link, and couldn't
"find" it, so had no option but to approve it, knowing I'd only re-installed
my Kurzweil editor the last few days, nothing more.

I have so many programs that open when I start my computer, that it is slow
starting up.  I want to turn off programs from automatically starting, I have
tried several things and I am not getting anywheres......any suggestions? You

Have an hp laptop that I just replaced the monitor backlight thinking that
was the problem.  Monitor still does work, but I can use by hooking up a

Ive been trying to set up google as my home page, i have saved the
preferences and then when i open up the browser again the preferences page
comes up instead of the google seach page and i can only get to the google

My Start menu has suddenly changed so that the left-hand column no longer
displays my most recently-used programs (except for Free Cell!).
I just went into Control Panel, Taskbar and Start Menu, Start Menu Tab and
have the radio button set for Start menu, I clicked on Customize>

My friend has a small "C" drive of about 30gb. This is pretty much full and
she is unable to even run a defrag. Due to a brain malfunction (a blond
moment) a year or so ago, she threw out most of the discs for programs that
she has installed on the computer... not the Windows ...

My computer started rebooting by itself continously before entering XP. So
now I want to start all over again and re-install XP - well aware that I'll
lose all data.
I booted the computer from CD-drive with my XP install cd and entered setup.
