Conflict between XP SP3 and dot net 3.530 May 2008 03:48 GMT3
I started fresh with a new install of XP when SP3 was released. The "new"
system refuses to install dot net 3.5 (others OK) from a visual studio
express install disk.
It previously refused to install PhotoInfo.
Trying to change wallpaper and desktop tab is missing29 May 2008 22:25 GMT6
I have right clicked on desktop and gone to control panel/display and the
desktop tab has gone missing.  I used to change it regularly with no problem.
Does anyone have any solutions or suggestions?

I am having a problem with my CD drive that looks like a software issue. The
basic background is that I can use the "D" drive to play music CD's but am
unable to write text to the CD and when I try to "save as" from Word, I get

I made a backup of my WinXP installation CD by simply copying the files off
into a folder and then onto a CD. This turned out to be the wrong way
because the process didn't put any boot files onto the CD.
I need desperately to reinstall or access the Recovery Console but

I have a Dell 5150 box that used to have Windows 2000 on it.  I recently
upgraded to Windows XP and noticed that downloading files from our server is
extremly slow.  a 2MB file takes about 5 minutes to download to the
computer.

My Dell computer has Windows XP Pro. My problem is that when I specify a
standby time with: Desktop, Properties, Screensaver, Power, the computer
never obeys these durations and never goes into standby.

A year ago for several months, I followed all the instructions on
fixing getting details view in Windows XP pemanently but nothing works
reliably.  I've followed instructions on new computers that I've gone
to when I go to new job contracts and there is no permanent fix.  If

I start my computer and will frozen at first screen: Compact/Esc=Boot menu/F1
setup/F10 System recovery.
After this, it does not do anything else and my keeyboard will not respond
either.

My Internet connection is dropping out every so often. The connection icon
is still on the task bar and the phone is 'hissing' (so connected) but I
can't do anything. the connection window will not open....it sort of flicks
on and then off....and there is no colour to the two ...

I use Windows XP Service Pack 2 and IE7.
When I click on any download if I save the download it goes to the little
window with the percentage of download but when it reaches 99% it freezes, or
if I click on run the download it goes to the little window with Verifying on

I have two drives 500Gb each  - identical
I have multiple partitions on each for future OS's and data areas.
I just noticed that some of the partitions on the second  drive have several
letters assigned to them in the left column of my File managers

Some hardware is causing errors!! I believe the hardware is my D drive,
since the very first error listed storage at the top of the error and then
later my D drive went missing!  Ran error checking and it came back.. so I'm
pretty sure it is my D Drive but to be 100% sure I will ...
