Sorry for the dumb question, but this has been bothering me for years and
has become a significant nuisance lately:

(1) Open each folder in the same window or

When I bought my computer WordPerfect was installed. I used it for a while
and then bought Microsoft XP. I would love to move all the files in
WordPerfect to my XP and get rid of WordPerfect. Any templates I download
automatically go to WordPerfect. How do I get them to download ...

I believe that my Windows XP installation needs repairing using the recovery
console.
Can anyone suggest a reason and solution as to why my desktop refuses to
boot from the Windows XP installation disc. I have altered the BIOS setting

These are text files from MS site.
I have MS Works 8 but they won't open in the Works word processor.  Tried
Wordpad but just get garbled text.
Advice appreciated.

Pls be patient, my problems is difficult to explain> I have problems
controlling the taskbar.  When I lock it, progr icons either appear double or
grouped - regardless whether they are similar or not.  If I add a language
bar, it comes up twice.  

When I right click an icon in the system tray, the task bar properties menu
comes up along with the shortcut menu for the application icon I clicked.  
How do I get this to stop????  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Windows Media Player got updated by some process I do not
understand.  Now I need to know what version I have.  There is no
"help" choice onthe menu bar leading me to an "About" option, so I
cannot tell what version I have through the usual means.

Discovered that my 3 yr old VAIO will only identify my external burner (ie;
3 yr old USB PlugnPlay firmwareless LG-DVDRAM GSA-5160D SUPER writer) in My
Computer window's "name" column as DVD-RAM Drive (H:) only after re-booting
while the burner is online and powered up.

Sorry if this is off topic everyone but I am hoping someone can help me.  I
just loaded the new free AVG version 8.0 (I am running xpsp2), and I figured
I should have manually uninstalled 7.5 first but it said it would do it
automatically and I trusted it.  Anyway it made a bunch ...

Sometimes my computer will completely shut down.  I have McAfee VirusScan and
there are no viruses.  I have modified my power options to Home/Office user,
always on.  
What should I check now?

My computer is running slow, I have run anti virus checks and nothing has
come up, also I can connect to the internet, but certain websites eg
Facebook, and Afterdawn.forum, channel 4 just wont load? I am a complete
novice, and have no idea what i'm doing, so would like some help ...

When i am maximizing any application (like Excel, IE, Word)it is not fitting
into the screen and the status bar of the opened application went under the
task manager.I checked the task bar properties also but the prob not solved.
Can any one help me?

Going to Task Manager I see some processes that should not be running on my
computer.  How can I disable/remove them so that they do not run again?
"End Process" will not really help as they will return on the next restart.
I have gone to the startup file on 'msconfig' but many ...

My system folder opens when i enter windows, how to resolve this problem?
In safe mode, there is a new profile called administrator. Is it the same as
other profiles with admin rights?

When I run a program whose EXE is on a mapped drive on the file server
I get a dialog with the message "The publisher could not be verified.
Are you sure you want to run this software.?" How can I prevent this
message for any program that is on the file server? Thanks.
