When I double click on a folder, intead of opening folder I get the "search
result" window opening. I know this is a silly problem but i'd like to change
the settings so folders open when i need them. Anybody know how to change
this setting?

I have two computers with XP Home.
When I turn power on one computer boots up staright to the desktop and the
other brings up a screen with my name and I have one more step to get the
desktop. I am the only user and I do need it.

When using 'Differential' backups, and you delete a file from your desktop,
will the deleted file also be removed from your backup the next time you
carry out a differential backup?

Cannot defrag  - never needed it yet, but I still do this monthly to check.
Only changes seems to be removing IE7, and the SP3, which I 'noticed' seems
to have been in these threads in the past as a ? cause. However, I've also
'lost' my EPSON scanner connection -- use Kurzweil ...

My cd rom player will no longer read original cd's.  It will play my back-up
cd's but not the original applications.

Is there a way of detecting (identifying) duplicate files on my C:
drive?  Maybe somehow with the Search option?

XP Pro SP2 and a mess of updates.
While in Disk Cleanup I went to the Windows Component Add/Remove to
eliminate some unwanted progs.
Bad idea.  I've never figured out how to operate that thing properly.
Mounting DoubleSpace diskette created in W9826 Jun 2008 18:39 GMT3
Have WinXP Home. Attempting to "Mount" a diskette created by W98 DoubleSpace
but cannot find any referrence to DoubleSpace in Win Help. Nor any
referrence to DoubleSpace in Control Panel Add/Remove Windows Programs.
Any assistance appreciated, ASAP.

I have just installed SP2.
When i boot up I now get the old classic logon and password request instead
of the welcome screen.
I have gone to the Control Panal - then to the useracounts. When i click

Somehow, without my permission <gr> something has changed the letter
of my 2nd CD/R disk from G to H.  There is no longer a G drive.  My
first CD drive is F.
Is there a way to get my H drive changed to G?

It keeps crashing every now and then when I start or close programs.
It's XP SP2. I think I should be able to look up event files or
something - where is it please?
