Somehow or other I changed a setting which resulted in the "My Network Places" icon no longer displaying on the desktop. It appears as an item in the Desktop in Windows Explorer, but not on the desktop itself. What's the secret?

Previously I have installed Windows XP Pro many times as a clean (HDD formatted) install and every time it installs to drive c:/ I now want to try to do a multi -boot, so I started with a partitioned disk with the first primary partiton as ntfs. Nothing else installed.

this program has lately taken to maxing out the cpu. I think its realted to a recen install of norton internet security 2007 (lets not start on that pls). Does anyone have this issue in regard to norton, or should i be looking at someting else as the cause? Whay does this file ...

could anyone tell me please how I can use my skype telephone handset through my front usb port ? at the present even if I plug the phone in I still get the conversation through the desktop speakers, I would like the calls to be just on the handset and not the mic and speakers.

I just learnt how to create a new Compressed Folded and drag/drop several files into it, but how can I make an automated command to do the same without using the mouse? I am often zipping the same set of files. With PKZIP you could type e.g.

I think my system is screwed up. I have a dual core CPU but when I look at CPU Usage in Task Manager I only see 1 panel. In device manager I do have 2 processors listed but under Computer I only have 1, an ACPI PC. I seem to recall when it was working that I had 2 ACPI
