I drive two monitors with Windows XP; primary on the left. Some time ago, I
moved the startup default screen for my Quicken program to the right monitor
(secondary). Resolution on the primary is 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 on the

A friend asked me to look at her XP computer.  She is not able to do certain
things or access certain areas without a message coming up saying she does
not have Admin rights.  I opened the control panel and she is listed as the
only user and with full admin rights.  I tried again ...

Loging with any id I created (administrator's authority), after the desktop
shows on the screen for 1-2 seconds, the desktop is disappeared, the screen
goes to black as if the user just login, then, the desktop shows again (kind
like restart), then, the system is OK.  It does not ...

I have a Compaq laptop with XP Home and a desktop with XP MCE.  At one
point, both machines would automatically start and play a DVD movie
just by  putting the disk in the drive.

Previously I had my computer started so that the QUICK LAUNCH toolbar would
display program icons. Now, whenever I reboot, the toolbar disappears and I
have to right click on the task bar, select toolbars, and select Quick
Launch.

When I installed a new XP Pro SP2 on a new HDD, I didn't add users during the
install process. It started up as Administrator, then I did all the updates

I run windows XP pro, and I deleted a program file for MS Word so now
I cannot access Word at all.
Is there anyway I can retrieve something that was sent to the recycle bin and
deleted in the Recycle Bin??

I have an emergency note about an EXE placed in a folder next to that EXE.
XP puts the NotePad icon on it and no "Change Icon" option appears in the
properties.
How can I a different icon (Big red X) which I have elsewhere, on this item?

When I set my screen saver for eg 5 mins & set my monitor to turn off after 5
mins & system standby after 5 mins & then click on Apply & OK it doesn't seem
to happen.  Sometimes they come on & sometimes they don't.  When the screen
saver does come on at 5 mins it then switches ...

I installed IE 8, and have lots of problems since.
Hopefully, disabling Dr Watson will help - it winds locking up the computer.

Somehow the PowerON got set to AUTO on my computer.  I alway turn off my
computer when away for an extended time and turn off the surge protector.  
Now when I power on the surge protector, my compter powers up w/o having to
press the button.
