I use Windows XP. I have just bought a Lacie 160gb USB 2.0 external hard drive which is already set up as FAT32. I want NTFS. Since no data is involved, is my best choice to use the Format command rather than the 'Convert H:

On a new XP machine, there is no File and Folder Task pane available. Only a folders pane if one selects that option, otherwise nothing to the left in the window. How can one restore the Task pane, please?

When I call up Popular ScreenSavers, it comes up with an error message asking if Windows Media Player would like to run that program. Then the standard "would you like to send or not" error message to Microsoft comes up.

i have an older scanner that worked fine in win98, but now with xp it doesnt work at all. i tried to find drivers for it that work in xp but none do, it requires a mirascan driver, any ideas?

i did something incredibly stupid, using the DISKPART command to CLEAN a drive, i failed to notice that diskpart was actually logged-on to the *wrong* volume at the time, so i inadvertently wiped-out the partition table (i'm assuming) on a drive that was not the intended target.
