I just upgraded from WindowsME to XP home edition.  
Everytime I start up XP and log in, MSconfig opens on the
desktop.  I tried the Microsoft Support solution to click
Enable all on the Startup and Services tabs of MSconfig.

We are trying to pinpoint a problem with users in XP Pro, that are

I have had to reinstall completely XP PRO. Before doing so I used the utility
"settings and file transfer" which saved this on an external disk (H). For
good measure I save most data files on the external disk (H) as well. I saw
that the utility backed up all C,D,E,F,G partitions ...
