I just upgraded from WindowsME to XP home edition.  
Everytime I start up XP and log in, MSconfig opens on the
desktop.  I tried the Microsoft Support solution to click
Enable all on the Startup and Services tabs of MSconfig.  

I had to re-install win XP Pro on my computer. So far
everything works well, except for the fact I can't place
the computer into standby mode or hibernation. From the
start menu I can click shutdown and the standby option

How do I modify the programs that automatically appear
when I enter Windows?

When I start my computer, it goes straight to check
(scan) the system disks and Files. Is there a way I can
configure the operating system to stop this operation?
