get day just wondering if anyone can help me i am having

I have noticed a few people who want to relocate their
Documents and Settings.  There was a net site that listed
how to do it, but I forgot to save that link.  But here is
a step by step process for those that are interested.

First of all when I go in and put the information in the
window of search query for newsgroup topics there is no
problem.
When I hit search nothing comes up.

In Computer Manager > Services & Applications > WMI Control is empty.
Is it normal, how to correct that if not ?

As part of its installation, XP SP 2 creates archives. Assuming the update
went well, what is the name and location of those archives, so that one can
delete them?

DAEMON.EXE runs constantly using 99% of resources.27 Aug 2004 20:35 GMT1
Daemon.exe and Prefetch is always running which slows the
hard drive down to a crawl. I cannot get rid of daemon.exe
from task manager. It just moves and starts again. How can
I correct this problem? Also have an entry point error at

I have a batch file which replaces the start button text
with the environment variable username.
However, when I put it in startup items it is
ineffective, as it runs before explorer.exe has finished

Installed new motherboard and had to "repair" windows XP.
All went fine.  Looked over and saw the modem was not
installed.  Installed modem and restarted XP.  Modem query
was good.  Driver was installed properly. It will not

I restarted my computer today.  When it went to load Windows XP it came up
with the following message.
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

When installing OS's I prefer to have user data (Documents and Settings) and
applications (Program Files) on separate partitions/drives from the system
(Windows/WinNT). Each time I've installed XP and tried to set these folders
to be on anything but the same drive as the system, ...

i am told by knowledge base that i cant install service
pack 1 because a non microsoft windows programme is
conflicting with start up..
