I just reinstalled windows Xp on my Laptop, and everything went as planned. But, i have no option to enter stand by. Not even in the advanced power options. It is very strange? Is there anything i can do?

My copy of windows XP home has started acting up and i think either a virus or malware has gotten on to it. Although i use an upto date copy of Norton AV and a malware program call A2 and nothing has been found by either.

When I right-click on the title bar of a window or program in my desktop computer, I don't get the usual context menu. Instead, the window or program closes without warning. This is not true in my laptop, only in my desktop.
