I tried to install sp2 from a cd,it got halfway through and refused to
install,saying the system was unstable,then recomended uninstalling,which I

i am using the system tool..to copy local profiles but keep getting "access
denied"
i am logged on locally as the admistrator , selecting the local profile i
want to copy , then selecting the new profile name i want to copy

I get an error douring download of XP sp2: "C:/$MFT corrupt and unreadable.  
Run CHKdsk."  Which I had and problem still persists.  Can this be fixed
without reformatting.

In trying to gain more speed loading pages on the net (using cable), I
started "messing" with registry settings.  I am running XP Pro.
I'm not sure I did any good at all and I suspect I made things even a
little slower.

Does anyone have any clue as to why I would be getting an access denied
message when I attempt to manage another computer with a domain admin user
on the network and then go into the event viewer?  I can connect and see the
services, etc.  but I am not able to open event viewer.
