Lost Tabs View in Task Manager06 Jan 2005 17:31 GMT2
I was stopping some applications in the Task Manager when somehow I changed
the appearance of the window.  I no longer see the Tabs view.  I only see
the applications with no ability to look at anything else.  How can I reset
the view back to the default?

I set my start menu to the Classic View hoping for the good ol' days of
Windows.  But for the life of me I cannot figure out how to make all my
program entries under 'Programs' display once the little windows pops out to
the right side.

I've been running into bootup time problems and I've gone in and checked
what the problem might be. To my amazement, my user's registry hive
ntuser.dat is a whopping 140MB !!
I've already gone in and fixed any errors there might have been and

I am using a P3 833 MHz Intel Processor, with 256 MB RAM and running XP Pro

When I open my task manager  and see the performance, my CPU usage is always
100% while RAM usage is 164 MB or thereabouts,

It may be a coincedance but since installing SP2 when I right click on a
file on the desktop to check properties I get the hourglass and nothing
happens. The same for icons in the task bar although the startup group to

Beginning last week I get a message "Cannot find file in C\Program\...."
during the boot just after the Welcome splash screen. I can click OK, then
everything seems to work OK. Because there is no folder "C:\Program\", I
suspect a virus or some outside cause.

I had to re-install XP Pro. I did a full disc format. Now, whenever I boot

I have redirected users "My Documents", "Desktop" and "Application

Can anybody tell what the file vssdrv.exe does. I find it in my running
processes. I try to end the process but it wont end

I remember their was a trick to have the folder pane automatically show up
when opening Windows Explorer in XP (i.e., without having to click on the
folder icon).
Anybody who could provide this information would be greatly appreciated.

I do hope someone can help.  I have done a very silly thing.  When I went to
turn on my PC, I had left a floppy disc in drive A.  The PC came up with a
message "unable to start NTLDR" and I assumed there was a major problem.  So
I ran the system recovery disc.  All my work is ...

System restore will not start. I get the above message everytime. I ran
SFC.exe and it didn't help. Although, how do I run SFC.exe when I have SP2
installed, but don't have the CD? It asked me for the "original CD" - which I
used.
