Add a Subnet to Windows firewall06 Feb 2005 04:37 GMT1
My question guys is whether you can add a whole subnet to the exceptions list
rather than open all the different ports for all the different subnets as
this would be alot of mucking around.... Nortons firewall and Zone alarm can
do this.
Firewall06 Feb 2005 04:35 GMT2
I have SP2 installed and the latest security updates. I run Agnitum Outpost
Pro. I also had the XP firewall selected. I have noticed recently when ever
I boot up the XP firewall defaults to off and I have to manually turn it on.
Should I not be running 2 firewalls? Or should I be ...
Windows Security Alerts, SHUT UP!06 Feb 2005 04:33 GMT7
I have installed SP2, but I WILL NOT enable Automatic Updates. I am NOT a
retard, and I will, and do, manage updates, but this is a work machine, and
I need stability, and I DON'T trust Microsoft in that regard. All that is
fine, accept Windows Security Center wants to constantly ...
Explorer is slow to display contents06 Feb 2005 04:25 GMT5
When windows explorer opens, the right panel stays blank for a long time
until the files in the hard drive are listed.
Defragmenting makes no difference.
Is there a registry adjustment that I can make to speed things along?

Internet connection06 Feb 2005 04:13 GMT2
Because of a system failure, I was forced to do a clean install of XP Pro,
losing many of my settings in the process. When I tried to re-create my DSL

log-in and password -- was grayed out. The only ...
IIS - Page cannot be displayed06 Feb 2005 04:04 GMT1
I've just installed IIS 5.1 on Windows XP SP 2 and cannot see the default
website. I type http://localhost in my browser and after about 10 minutes I
get a "Page cannot be displayed" error.
Does anyone know if I need any additional setup?
XP default settings06 Feb 2005 03:59 GMT1
I am a new XP user with 4 acounts on my PC.
To set my printer as the default printer, I had to log in as each user and
go through the process 4 times. Is there any way to set such settings to
apply to all accounts on the PC?
Rename Devices in XP06 Feb 2005 03:48 GMT2
Guys,
We are setting up a box with a number of USB devices (video streams),
but the software used to manage them can only tune the first instance
because all of the devices have the same name (they all show in Device
yEnc Add-in for Outlook Express06 Feb 2005 03:33 GMT6
I am looking for an add-in that will allow Outlook Express to process yEnc
files. I have Newsrover 10, but to be honest I don't like the software and
prefer (go figure) OE.
I realize that this may not be the correct newsgroup; but there does not
Dial up access to Windows XP06 Feb 2005 03:28 GMT3
I am trying to use remote desktop or remote assistance by directly dialling
up the computer with a modem attached. Is there anyway of doing that?
Perhaps there is a KB article on this.
Thanks
msinfo32/system information06 Feb 2005 03:26 GMT7
I feel like my msinfo32 file might be corrupted or something. I did have two
modems installed in my computer, I recently removed one of them as I really
didn't use it that much. I went into device manager and un-installed it. I
then went to the system information area, and it no ...
Where is SP2's "trusted file handler" list?06 Feb 2005 03:25 GMT1
Hi --
I installed a new graphic file viewer on an XP Pro SP2 box. The file
associations for graphic files changed to use this new program by default.
Now, however, every time I try to open a graphic, I get the SP2 "Open File"
Outlook Express - Combine and Decode problems06 Feb 2005 03:15 GMT2
I have been using Outlook Express to read my newsgroups for years, I have
used the combing and decoding feature with no problems until recently.
Now when I combine and decode instead of getting a file with the item, i get
a display of the code in the item.  I think it is a setting ...
