I have a heavily corrupted installation of XP Pro on my laptop and need
probably to do a full reinstall.  It is on a C drive, I have some files I
need to transfer onto a D partition before reinstalling as I presume there
is no way I could burn them onto a CD ROM under any ...

Cleaning up the registry?18 Feb 2005 02:23 GMT3
After installing and removing a few applications and peripherals, the
registry now has many entries left over from all those poorly implemented
installs/de-installs. This is inconvenient in many ways.
What's the official word on registry cleaners? Are they useful? Are they

I have two XP Pro computers at home and need to move 5 users from one PC to

the home network at one time.  Thanks for any ...

Dumb Query - RunLevels?17 Feb 2005 13:52 GMT18
Does XP Pro have any accessible equivalent to the RunLevel of Unix/Linux?
I'd like to be able to log into safe mode without rebooting (Don't ask). I
suppose I could just shut down services manually, but if this could be
automated it would be a start. Ideas?
Can't create new primary partitions, only logical drives. Fdisk or16 Feb 2005 21:47 GMT1
I've been trying for the past hours to delete two logical drives so as to
obtain some unallocated space that I could (in theory) transform into two new
and shinny primary drives, on which I wish to reinstall XP, one as my main
partition, the other to try out new programs.

to find them in "C" drive.  I am using Windows XP ...

Greetings!  I recently tried out Tweak UI for Win XP, having used it

befuddled after trying it with Win XP because after changing a few
settings, now whenever I move the mouse over a listing on my Start
