I get an error in IE, "my security settings prohibit running activex controls on this page" in *any* web page and can't go to the microsoft windows update page to even see if there are any updates for my computer. I'm forced to use Firefox

Sometimes when I move the mouse to recover from standby mode I get a blue screen with lot of text then before you have chance to read it the machine reboots. Some of the text says something about "Kernal Stack Impage Error"

I'm trying to upgrade a win2k machine to an xp home machine. The upgrade advisor runs but does not give any info, it seems to just stop. If I try to just install it tells me the path to upgrade is not valid. Any ideas why this may occur? And what would be the next step?!

My 3-day old clean-install XP Pro-SP2 with (to my knowlegde) features the following registry key: HKCU\Software\ORL\VNCHooks and depending subkeys like Application_Prefs with inderneath that a whole slew of definitions of applications on the machine.
