there are few command line utilities that come with xp,
one of them is old "edit.exe".
but on some computers it is not operable: it does not
reacts on some keystrokes, or shows wrong characters.

Hard drive failed.  Replaced with Backup (data backup on HD).  Reinstalled
windows.
After restoring system state, DVD/CD RW is NOT recognized.  Says drivers not

Is there any way to add multiple reg files to the registry at once?
I was fixing my cousins computer and one reboot one of her automatic tools
(errorguard) popped up and deleted around 7000 registry keys.  I have them

Does windows keep a data base of all installed files and what package
they belong to?  If so, how does one access it.
If not, does anyone know of an aftermarket tool that can do that?

   I am running windows xp.  I am trying to get my computer to recognized
my external hard drive.  I have not succesfully connected it yet.  My
