Lately my "Date and Time Properties" were changed in Windows XP (SP2), resulting in the loss of my restore points in System Restore. Can I back up the latest restore point? Where should I look for the files? Thanks.

Every time I boot up my icons get all collected along the left side of the desktop, like the default way Windows does it. This is a new phenomenon. I had them all in certain places (I like my recycle bin in the lower-righthand corner, e.g.), but now whenever I reboot

I have a few programs that start after I boot up. They automatically go into the sytem tray and run. How do I configure WinXP so I can control what starts up and what doesn't? Thanks.

I am trying to retrieve some data from a Win98 hard drive using my USB 2.0 enclosure on a WinXP machine. Disk management sees a "Healthy active drive", but does not give it a volume name and I can't assign it a drive letter (grayed out).

I'm having a problem getting Explorer to show in groups and sort the resulting groups alphabetically (A-Z). Explorer wants to sort (Z-A) (by selecting TYPE in the explorer window, sort order will temporarily sort A-Z, but will revert back to Z-A, even after CTL-Close).

I didn't have to at first. But after installing the .NET Framework, I have to click my user icon before the computer will finish booting up. It's a drag. I want the computer to boot up completely without my having to hover over it. How can I skip this step? Must I uninstall ...

Is it possible to permanently and completely disable the Links toolbar in Internet explorer, I have it turned off and the toolbars locked, but every time a site opens a link in a new page it pops back on again. TIA

I am running Win XP Pro SP2 and for some reason I cannot read from my floppy drive. It keeps saying the drive is not formatted, but the disc is. I don't think it's a hardware issue because I have tried it on another floppy drive I had kicking around.

Hi - please forgive me if this is the wrong forum. I can only say that it appeared to be the best option when I scanned the list. Problem: my computer supplier has gone bust, ceased trading and is out of business. My Windows XP Pro is an OEM version.
