I just got a new Dell laptop with XP SP2.  I am trying to assign full
read/write/execute permissions to a file.  There are sharing and
security options, but none that give the ability to change read/ write,

accidently deleted known dll20 Sep 2005 17:58 GMT5
I mistakenly deleted wininet.dll from the "Known DLLs" in the registry, while
trying to remove spyware. Anyone know how to fix that. Don't want to use
system restore as I'll likely have to start from scratch to remove the
spyware - already spent hours & hours doing that.

Is there a way in XP that this can be accomplished?
Cause of damaged user profile??19 Sep 2005 17:03 GMT1
One of our users logged in this morning to find that XP (Pro, SP2, with
updates) had recreated her user profile. I believe I have recovered her usual
settings, but I'd like to have a better idea of WHY this happened. I realize
nobody will be able to give me a definitive answer ...

problem. I found that explorer.exe was running with over 450M of memory and
page faults over 400K and counting. On the Performance tab ...
