Hi - How do I change the default application for an event such as putting a music CD in the drive or double-clicking on a jpg file? Sorry for this very basic question but I can't find the answer anywhere in Microsoft.

i have an original Windows XP Professional Setup CD and i accidentally threw the product key away. Since i had registered my copy i didnt think that after formatting the pc, i would need this key again. is there any solution o this problem?

Hi -- I have XP Home SP 1. Just this past week, I've had trouble getting online. No internet, no email, no ftp. If I go to Services and manually start the TRUE VECTOR service, then I can go online.

I have gone into my recycle bin on many occasions, and there are never any files in there. At the bottom it also says "0" objects. As a novice, what have I setup wrong, and what can I do to remedy this?

How do I roll my USB 2.0 port back to 1.0 so that my 1.0 device will work, as my computer is not doing it automatically and when I plug in my device it only shows up in the device manager for a second before windows xp home edition w/sp2 disables it and says there was a problem ...

I've tried the procedure in article 305117 of the MKB [previously Q305117], but it doesn't work. I've ensured that the background image is not one which requires the Active Desktop be turned on (it's a .bmp), and gone thru rebooting.

Thanks for your replys! I have ruled out the possibility of overheating - My current CPU core temperature is now in the region of 34'C - 38'C. Previously it was about 70'C ! I just recently purchase a thermaltake Kandalf super tower case.

I've got 2 computers, one wireless, one wired, in the same workgroup. Neither can see each other or THEMSELVES. I've been through this before with another network and have had no luck in solving the problem. Any thoughts?

I have Vista running on a virtual PC (with the VPC extensions installed) but I am unable to access the internet. It apears that there is a problem with the default NIC card (Intel 21140 Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (Generic)) that the VM is imulating.
