I have Windows XP Professional service pack 2 installed. I cannot install
some applications or uninstall some applications. I can't put my finger on
why some and not others. The install or uninstall process starts but never

Out of the blue, my Win XP Pro machine stopped playing system sounds.  The
volume control icon no longer appears in the system tray and the "play"
button is greyed out when I go to Control Panel>>Sounds..  CD and .WAV audio
plays fine with Quicktime and Windows Media Player.  ...

I had a service hang on Windows 2003.  I tried to stop it from the
Services control panel but it got stuck in the "stopping" state.  I
found the hung process associated with the service via the task manager
and killed it.  However, I cannot start the process (from Services)

Hi, My daughter was rebooting the comp, using crtl alt del, and was a bit ham

Im using office 2003 w/XP. I have common program icons on my task bar
including the desktop icon. all of a sudden it changed to a blank icon and
