My IBM R52 has Window XP SP2 running. Recently, I found my notebook not auto-assign the drive letter for the SanDisk Cruzer 128M. I have to run the Disk Management to Change Drive Letter after it is plugged in. Do anyone hjave the solution for this?

Does Windows XP Pro have a system log that automatically keeps a timestamp and description of every significant event (such as every bootup and every shutdown)? If yes, how can it be viewed? how far back does it go?
