Setup same profiles win Windows XP04 May 2006 06:03 GMT1
Hi there,
I was wondering if anybody here could refresh me on how to do a setup for
making the same identical windows xp profile in a machune. What I want to
accomplish is when a user logs in, he/she will have the same profile settings
problem with PNP[?] and  "ROOT\PRINTER\0000"04 May 2006 05:00 GMT7
I upgraded my laptop from XP Home to XP Pro.  Everything worked perfectly
before, and works perfectly now, with one exception.  All Windows XP Pro
patches are up to date as of today.
Now, at every boot, a "New Hardware Found" dialogue pops up, and states that

I( am having a real problem trying to install a new version of Intuit Quick
Books. When I try to install I get an error that tells me i need to install
V1.0.3705. I cant find this anywhere to down load. This ia causing me a real
head ache.

After installing a new Canon scanner, all my JPG files are shown as an
"OmniPage Image Document" in the TYPE column of explorer. I can open and edit
these files though, no other problems. Thanks to all.
cannot enable hibernation03 May 2006 16:49 GMT2
After I installed some CAD tool, my notebook cannot enable hibernation
anymore.  When I check "Enable Hibernation" and click "apply", the check mark
disappear.
I uninstalled the tool, and did system restore, and the problem still remains.

Is there any way of disabling the win key + U shortcut that starts narrator
on win XP SP2?
I've seen reference to turning it off in administrator tools\services in win
2000 but can't find it in mine (I guess that's win 2000 specific) and also

From administrator ID,  how can I list the scheduled task running under
system user? what about those running under network services?
schtasks.exe /s thislocalPCName /u system
will require password which I don't have

Suddenly two of my programs Outlook Express & Word 2000 won't allow me to do
a spell check. Word says "word cannot find the spelling file msspell.dll or
mssp232.dll. In word options the spell/grammar is greyed out, in outlook, the
spell ckeck icon is greyed out. I re-installed ...
FTP.exe not working w/ XP SP203 May 2006 11:28 GMT1
Really annoying issue.  I can ftp and log into the FTP server fine, however
when I try to 'ls' or 'dir' - I get error "500 Invalid PORT Command" and
session hangs.  I've tried setting both active and passive mode in the IE

my cmd closes it when i open it. i have run anti-virus and
anti-spyware. i used to get a error with autoexec.nt sayin somethin
about 16 bit subsystem. so i fixed that by typing %windir%/repair  and
copying the autoexec.nt to this folder %windir%/system32 and that got

I formatted an 80gb volume as NTFS, but it shows up in diskmgmt as FAT32.
How come?

We have about 5 PCs in our office.  There is no server but there is one PC
whose C drive is shared amonst the other PCs in a peer to peer fashion.   The
PCs who access the shared drive access it as a Z drive.  We need to map the
PC with the shared C drive as drive letter Z also.  ...

By analysis, using a registry cleaning tool (CCleaner) and subsequently

Just installed Windows XP on a fairly old desktop (475 Mhz AMD, 256 M RAM).
With amy installed download - Service Pack 2, I-Tunes, Firefox, etc_ when you
run the install you get an error message "Some install files are corrupt,
please download a fresh copy and reinstall". No ...
