My home pc which is running XP Home SP2:  When I go to the firewall in
control panel, I am not allowed to make any changes.  It is on (greyed
out) and if I wanted to turn it off, I can't because it too is greyed
out.  Any thoughts??

Need help, about 3 weeks ago my "power scheme" stopped working.  My settings
are to Turn off monitor after 20 min, turn off hard disks after1 hr.  Now the
monitor doesn't turn off (sleep mode) after 20 mins.
Any idea what it could be? Any help or tip will be appreciated.

I'm trying to reduce the disk space that WinXP Pro uses so I will have
smaller backup images.  I use Ghost Version 7.5 to create the images with
high compression.
I've noticed a new installation of WinXP pro is about 2.5 Gigs - 3 Gigs of

startup entries and tell me if there is anything suspicious?  I just
got a new laptop and have loaded up my software.  I'm ready for school

I have a query regarding Windows XP Professional which I installed on my pc.
In order to install IIS (internet information services) option from the
"Windows Components" window, I tried ticking the IIS box, and selecting the
"Next" button, it gives me the following error:

Following an attempt at a clean install, it appears that my system services
no longer function. The impact is a WINXP restart results in no network
services being available from a "Normal Startup".

When I had to repair XP, I lost the command for the WinExplorer shortcut
that opens it with My Computer and C drive open, so I don't have to click on
them to do so.  Can someone help me with that? I found one that would go to
C, but that didn't open "My Computer" as well.

i wanted to change the default icon of folders so i opened tools>folder options
then clicked file types, then i selected the (file folder) extention and
clicked advanced and changed the icon but after i did that every time i

I am looking for ways to reduce the amount of space taken up on my boot
drive.  I have noticed that there are often many copies of what appears to be
the same file in various directories on that drive.  I am using Windows XP
Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2.

I wanna start using power saving cuz my electricity bills are high and pc up
almost 24/7.
What stops me is i dont know how exactly it works, there is "turn off hard
drives" option it will turn off hard drives in case pc is idele, but what if
