WinXP MCE2005 dialogue box cropping04 Nov 2006 18:43 GMT1
I have a problem in that many of the program dialogue boxes that pop up
to choose settings are improperly sized too small (both vertically and
horizontally) and thus keep me from accessing buttons normally located
on the bottom and to the far right of the box. Text is often clipped.
Problem reinstalling XP04 Nov 2006 17:18 GMT3
I have done a reformat of my drive and now I'm trying to reinstall XP.
Everything works fine until I get to the end user license agreement. I push
F8 to agree and nothing happens, it just sits there. I can Cancel so I know
it's not locked up.

XP friends,
I just upgraded a computer (name APPLE) on a small office workgroup
(not in a domain) from Windows 2000 Pro to Windows XP Pro. Everything
seemed to proceed correctly and APPLE is up and running.
Storage Volumes for multi storage cards missing04 Nov 2006 06:31 GMT2
I've got a Gateway MX6000 notebook with WinXP Pro up-to-date SP2.
I've never plugged a memory card into it before, but have a 4GB RiData
X150 SD card left over from a Dell x51v fiasco I'd like to use with it,
now that the Dell PDA has gone home, permanently (another sad story).
Remote Assistance in the Domain03 Nov 2006 21:29 GMT1
Hello Group,
In an effort to save local resources I elected to try the built-in Remote
Assistance feature of Windows XP instead of installing some 3rd party remote
agent software we've used in the past (Altiris Carbon Copy).

I am trying to troubleshoot a problem with my Media Center XP PC.  Windows

corrupted.  I booted my PC in safe mode and was able ...
Peer to peer network03 Nov 2006 00:19 GMT5
Office has 4 PCs as workstations.  Each uses XP Pro.  Just finished
reformatting one hard drive and installing software.  In setup I called the
office network "office" instead of "workgroup".  How do I change the name?

Internet Time Sync in XP Home02 Nov 2006 09:08 GMT2
Does anyone know whether it is possible to change the frequency that
XP Home synchronizes with the Internet.  I have seen a number of
articles relating to XP Pro and Win2000, but nothing for XP Home.
Presently my system does the default sync every 7 days, but the clock
Can't Successfully Create Web Desktop Schedules01 Nov 2006 20:24 GMT1
I am running a Dell Desktop PC with Windows XP Professional installed on it.
I was using the web desktop to display weather map web sites.  I had the maps
associated with schedules so that they updated every 5 minutes or 15 minutes
or so.  The problem is that awhile back the ...
Lost control of Desktop Icons01 Nov 2006 18:55 GMT10
I know when I right click on the desktop, I should have the ability to
either show or no show the desktop top icons. Instead, when I do the
right click, I get a grayed out line that says "Show in groups" and
not the choice of show or no show the icons.

power down mechanism01 Nov 2006 18:33 GMT4
When I turn off my computer through Windows XP it logs off, saves settings,
and shuts down Windows. Then it physically powers-off my computer.
This same computer also has XP 64 as a second OS.* It behaves the same way
as my vanilla OS on shutdown provided I stay on for an extended ...
