I'm hoping you good folks can make some suggestions for me regarding DVD
drive compatibility. I subscribed to TechNet last year on DVD and had lots of
trouble reading the disks. I've also had trouble reading disks from other

After installing this new security patch , listed as "critical"  I recieve a
dll error. file hhctrl.ocx has been moved in memory. please contact the
issuer of this file for a replacement.

My computer seems to have lost my profile and is booting on a newly created
profile.  Therefore, I seemed to have lost everything.  This is what the
Event Viewer says:

I have got it to work OK, other than both users can see the others partition.
Is there any way that both the operating systems can be made to thing that
its partition is the C: drive??

My system automatically restarts everyday at 11PM (approx.). I tried
rescheduling the spysweeper and the anti-virus softwares to run at 9PM
and uninstalled Windows defender. But for some reason, my system still
gets restarted automatically at 11PM.

Friend's Dell Inspiron 5160 fails to boot to XP and then restarts. In safe
boot restarts after loading agpCPQ.sys. No recovery disk available. Appears
to be some sort of driver/service failure but how do I find out which one? Is
there something somewhere that can tell me the ...

I changed something, but dont know what.  When I reboot, the previous entries
from START|RUN are cleared.  What do I need to do so the items are not

Had bsod show up with a paging file error , when i restarted it came up with
missing or corrupt hal.dll, so I made a copy from my b/u machine and copied
into the sys32 folder from dos and now dos screen says
Windows could not start because of an errorin the software.

a newbie question: due to my fault, I had to reinstall our Win XP Home
v5.01, Service Pack 2 from scratch. It works :-), there are now 3 users,
User1 (that's me, the first account I created, with admin rights) and User2
and User3 with restricted rights.
