Good Day/Evening;
I was able to get to past the pciide.sys file is corrupted problem as
instructed by the kb-314082 tech note and get into Recovery console.  I
copied the following files:

I have removed Logoff and Stand By, from the computer shutdown options and
now I want to remove Restart so only giving the end user the option to shut
down the PC.

When I go to Keyboard Layout/IME I only have a choice of a few inputs 4 US
and a Uk layout, I need frech. So how do you add the French layout back to
windows from the origianal Windows Cd.
Also does anyone know the file names & location for these inputs.

I want to upgrade my SCSI HD to SATA ones.  After replacing the hardware, I
re-install the XP and then restore the full system backup back to the new HD.
The new XP can boot but always reboot automatically.  It seems that it still
try to seek the SCSI drivers.  It is really too ...

I am so frustrated, I am able to get the windows slipstreamed CD to start to
boot, even get as far as the blue windows setup screen, but then I get a
message saying that the file pciide.sys is currupt, and I can go no further!!
I have attempted to over-write it and even copy one ...

I have a peculiar problem with my Thinkpad T42. Whenever I double-click 'My
Computer ' or plug-in an external USB drive, it immediately opens the Search
Window, instead of Explorer window in which I can view the contents. I can
view the contents only in Windows Explorer.

I've upgraded a computer with two hard drives and three user accounts from
W2K Pro to WXP Pro.  The C:\ drive will be accessable to all three users of
that computer, but the second drive (D:\) must be ONLY accessable by one
user. I was able to do this in W2K, but can't figure out ...

I have xp home edition on my computer (have had for some time) and it has
always worked fine.  A couple of weeks ago I tired starting this computer and
it would not boot.  It told me that the root/system32/hal.dll file was
missing and to reinstall that file.
