KB290402 tells us how to do this with Win2000. XP is a bit different and the Registry key quoted is not quite the same. MS Support in US said due to regional variations in XP, they wouldn't help because I'm in the UK. A definitive answer would be most welcome! Thanks.

Hey all... running XPPro/SP2 and went and got SP3. Tried to install yesterday, but it seemed to "hang" when installing a .dll. Rebooted, had it "undo" all it's work, then rebooted once more and again tried to install.

My computer started rebooting by itself continously before entering XP. So now I want to start all over again and re-install XP - well aware that I'll lose all data. I booted the computer from CD-drive with my XP install cd and entered setup.
