My CD/DVD drive will not recongnize DVDs anymore. I can put in a data cd and
it will open, but when I put in a DVD it will not even recongnize it. When a
dVD is in, and I open the drive, it shows nothing there... HELP

Hi, when I formatted the Partitions on my system,I inadvertently installed
another copy of WindowsXp Pro, which I do not want / do not need and do not
know how to get rid of.
Fyi, while trying to get rid of the extra version of windows, I installed

I run XP  SP3.  
I get install error messages that say msiexec.exeis missing. Searching shows
it is in 5 places and \system 32.

Although the message 'Saving settings' is displayed when XpSp3 is shut down
the fact the new toolbar and quick launch toolbar do not reappear when the
system is started again.

Long story short, I had an issue norton did not get rid of so I found
Microsofts scan utltiy to check viruses, registry errors etc and ran it. It
found all of the virus malware issues but now everytime I boot up I get

I have a machine with XP Home that does not shutdown or restart.  It
hangs on the screen the says Windows is shutting down.  Is there an way
to check what processes and/or threads are closed during shutdown?  How
can I check what the OS is hanging on during shutdown?

Ok I know I did this correctly in the past, but I must have toss out all my

Recently, I installed a program. Now, I want to try deleting some of the

I am using the Western Digital Back up program. At my startup in my msconfig,
it shows that it's supposed to load at the task bar. However it does not
consistenly do this. About every 4th or 5th boot, the icon appears. If I
