Im trying to delete my former wife's name from user name sign on, documents
and settings, etc. from my Windows XP Home edition. Can anyone help?

I perform manual Windows-Update sessions on a particular system with
XP sp2.
Last fall, when Micro$haft came out with a WGA update, I hid that update
so I wouldn't see it again.

I have two hard drives, XP Home installed on C: and a backup drive as D:  I
would also install XP Home on the D: drive and make the system Dual Boot.  
The reason I want this is that I have to scanners and they won't work
together.  When I install both of them, neither works.  ...

Hi all. I'm trying to re-install my accessories. I go into add/remove
programs, and I click on ADD/REMOVE Windows Components.
I get a dialog box that says COPY ERROR, and in the 'Copy files from" box, a
reference to the following path

MY Documents, My Pictures, both have their template as music. How do I get
this corrected? When ever I go to My Pictures, it takes over 45 seconds to
come up. If I go through Explorer, it comes up quickly.

First of all, thanks to all of you pros that help out those of us less
fortunate with computers....
My question: I reinstalled XP Pro on my laptop (full format, the works).  
Works like a charm (faster, etc.), but there's one irritating thing I can't

admin has locked me out of my optical drives pain in the butt. This is a

I just finished a fresh install of XPpro Sp3, added a second administrator
account but every time I reboot or start the Pc cold it auto logs on with
the "default" administrator logon ID and Pw.
Even if I log off the administrator account and log back on with my second

After I enable the Start Menu option to "Expand Control Panel" and then click
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel, all of the appropriate items are listed,
but NOT in alphabetical order.  
How do I specify an alphabetical sort order when "expanding" the contents of

My brother is running XP Pro and has three users on the machine using fast
user switching.  Now when user2 logs in it doen't go to her profile.  If you
look in Docs and settings she is logged in as "tamp" not user2.  All of the
files are still there under user2.  Is there a way ...

Hi -- There are these terribly annoying "upgrade" requests that happen during
boot up from places like Adobe and Palm, questioning whether I want to
install their latest upgrade. Does anyone know where I find these obnoxious
applets so I can get rid of them? Thanks. --- David

We are upgrading our mail clients to Outlook in a few weeks, but for now we
use Lotus Notes.   The Outlook client has been silently installed on all the
machines in the building.  Though when some users  click on a online link
(‘contact us, ‘for more info’ etc) they are prompted ...

I was installing Windows Updates on a Win XP SP2 machine.  I locked the
screen and went away till it completed.  A user could not get by the lock so
she simply turned off the machine.
Now, a login screen does not appear - just the blue background.  I cannot
