Somehow I managed to highlight the desktop icon names and
I want to undo this. I thought that I was sharp but I

Is it possible to remove the icons to the left of the
filenames when browsing My Computer in list view? The
reason I ask is that sometimes it takes an age to display
them, each line changing and delaying before the next one.

OK, maybe I'm not explaining this right.  I have Windows XP installed on my
computer at work.  Not my choice but I have to live with it.  I've added an
address bar to my taskbar, so I can type in a URL without having to launch
IE first.  I have the same thing on my computer at home ...

Every time I start XP home edition Yahoo Messenger
automatically starts up.  I do not have it pinned to my
start up menu.  I don't want it to start automatically.  
I know there must be another way to access the start up

I checked that box for welcome screen Wa La!!! Problem solved.

on some folders in XP if you right click on the folder
and click properties there is a 'customize' tab which
allows you to change the default display and other
features.  On some folders this tab is not available.
