Is it possible to remove the icons to the left of the filenames when browsing My Computer in list view? The reason I ask is that sometimes it takes an age to display them, each line changing and delaying before the next one.

OK, maybe I'm not explaining this right. I have Windows XP installed on my computer at work. Not my choice but I have to live with it. I've added an address bar to my taskbar, so I can type in a URL without having to launch IE first. I have the same thing on my computer at home ...

Every time I start XP home edition Yahoo Messenger automatically starts up. I do not have it pinned to my start up menu. I don't want it to start automatically. I know there must be another way to access the start up

on some folders in XP if you right click on the folder and click properties there is a 'customize' tab which allows you to change the default display and other features. On some folders this tab is not available.

Would someone tell me a few swift ways I can access Windows Explorer in XP (or point me to a site with instructions)? My previous computer had a *start* key at the bottom which I used to press together with *E* - that was a quick way of opening up Explorer.

Recently I "received' somehow a double line in my task bar, allowing me to move icons from my desktop to the second or lower track. In reloading Windows XP this was not available. How or where can I obtain this?
