How does one DISABLE a program from starting up? I know how to go to the Startup folder under "all users" and can disable some programs there - but LOTS of other programs start up that aren't there. I can do it in W98 by going to

when I turn on my computer to boot up all the program windows open all at once, and won't close until all settles down then I close them one at a time. Thanks

I hate the "balloons" in Win XP. For instance when you your cursor is over the "X" in the upper right of any window - the displays a "balloon" the says CLOSE. etc., etc., etc.,

for a really long time now the icons for gif files and text files just show up as a generic icon. bitmap, jpeg and word files do not do this. i would really like to find out how to make the .gif and .txt file icons show up

My sone went into the Display Settings window, went to Advanced, scrolled to Active Title Bar and reset the size into the hundreds or thousands. The net result is that every window I attempt to open is consumed by the "close"

I seem to be missing a file called (machine.config) Can I reconstruct it? Does it change with each new program or with each new piece of new hardware? Can I use an older one that was backed up?

How do I change the way new windows are positioned? My Internet Explorer windows used to appear at the same vertical position on the desktop but shifted to the right. I was happy with this.
