Hello and thanks for any help. I am running a clean install of XP pro.
Running under my name (as an administrator) I don't show my desktop icons.
When I right-click on the desktop and go to "arrange icons by" I don't have
the option to show icons at all. Not there. In fact the other ...

Last night my computer was forced to shut down improperly
due to power failure. There after when I restarted my
computer it went to regular scaning and made some file
recovered but it could not load my previous profile.

I put my old Hard Drive (HD) into my new comp.  I
expected an easier time of settings/file xfer.  I tried
to transfer all my e-mails in Outlook Express from my old
HD D:\(has Win 98) to my new HD C:\(Win XP Pro).  Both

im trying to install the virtual desktop manager in the
powertoys XP but once i install it, it doesnt appear
anywhere so i cant use it. i check in the start menu, the
quickstart bar and the taskbar. the other powertoys like

I have my Power settings as such:
Power schemes: Portable/laptop (mine is a desktop)
Turn off monitor: after 15 mins
Turn off hard disks: after 20 mins

computer. Often resources get bogged down by the numerous programs left
running.  Is it possible to automate the closing of specific, non-critical
