I am having trouble establishing a home network from my desktop to my
laptop. I try but i get a message saying that an error occured.  In addition
when I start my main machine I get an error saying that a file failed to
load at startup.  I am thinking a XP reinstall will install the ...

When I go to my Start button, and click Search, I don't
get the option to search for files or folders.  I only get
an option to search the internet.  This is only on one
computer I have.  Both have Windows XP Pro.

restore points set on my xp pro m/c. Whenever i try to go
back to any of them the computer goes through the motions

Recently the opens with preferences on my folder and hard
drive were changed, I don't know what glitch caused
this.  However, the program no longer opens the folder
upon double click, and instead sends me to a search

when I change the 'opens with' preferences under "Folder
Options" in the control panel, the new they become
permanent upon closing the dialog window.  There's no way
to remove an item from the new actions become permanent.

Can somebody show me how to delete a directory in y hard
disk whereby everytime I try to delete gives a message
ACCESS DENIED. This use to be a windows xp directory
before I installaed a new windows xp leaving the old one

if i am logged in and i leave the computer and the
screensaver starts when i return and move the mouse it
returns to the login screen and says that I have 1

that I check and see if my Temp folder files are
encrypted.  But I can't get into the "Advanced" section
to find out if they're encrypted or not.  I can't find an

I tried Kelly's Korner number 185, right panel, several
times and nothing changed. Did restore, same item, and
tried again.  Same results.  Do I have to do something
else too?  Or what?  Win XP,SP1  IE 6.    Thanks, Phil
directory structure -- files appear in multiple places?24 Oct 2003 20:16 GMT1
I've noticed in XP that in explorer the same files can
appear in multiple places.  For example under desktop "my
documents" then under desktop "user name" then under my
computer, local disk, documents and settings, "user
