A downloaded desk top item just will not go away. When I
go to settings and try to change the theme or background,
it just stays there. It can partially slide away (like a
windows split)however

I have a dell inspiron 8100 laptop with Windows XP
professional loaded.  It was running fine, but now the
wallpaper will not load.  I get a little icon in the top

Need to find out if it is possible to disable the WIndows
XP speech to text applet in control panel.  I am the tech
guy in a high school, and kids seem to like to play games

I must have set Windows to create file backups, and my
folders are overrun with backups of every file I have
created.  How do I unset this function, or at least

I'm trying to change default XP login screen (where you
can't type in account ids, they are displayed) to the
classic login screen (where you can type-in the account
id's). I think I saw it but don't remember how to do it.

Somehow my configuartion changed and I cannot restore the
many needed icons to the right of the Back Button as
before when I had a total of four* lines from top; 1. the
current  page line with _ Box and X on far right; 2.the

Is it possible to disable the menu animation in which when you right click
something the grey menu gradually fades in, rather than just pop up as it
did in previous versions of windows? it's annoying.

admin profile, but not in any other profile?

I am running Windows XP Professional. Active programs no
longer appear on the taskbar -- for one user only.  The
language bar and quick Start bar are OK. Taskbars for
other users (i.e. other logons) work fine.

is it possible to get rid of the "my computer", "recycle
bin" and so on from appearing under icons on the desktop?
I bought object desktop from stardock, and with all the
millions of possible customizations that ive yet to even
