Since some action (I don't remember) the Web items on my XP desktop have disappeared. I see them in the properties page but not on the surface. Creating new items also doesn't help. The NoActiveDesktop flag in the registry is set to 0. The icons are visible. Any idea

Right now, many menus hide unused items unless you click on the two down-arrows, or wait a few seconds, e.g. on the Start/Programs menu. Is there a setting somewhere which says to always show all menu items?
