SOmehow my girlfriend managed to move the taskbar to be verticle on the right side of the screen. It's driving me nuts! How do I put it back along the bottom?

My students deleted the show desktop icon from the quick launch bar on their computers. I cannot find the icon on the hard drive in the Windows folder. Would appreciate directions on how to get it back?

I have just got to the Taskbar & Start menu via the STAR tab then SETTINGS. Can anyone tell me how to remove Past Items from the Customize Notifications under the customize tab in the Taskbar menu?
