In "Display Properties", under the "Advanced" tab, "Effects" button, there are a set of checkboxes. The checkboxes and listbox for 'transition effects' and 'hide underline letters' are disabled (greyed out), and I don't know why. Does anyone know what would cause this to happen?

Does anyone know how to lock down the location of the icons and folders on the desktop? I like to place them where I want them, but they keep moving around on me. In particular, the trash will not stay put.
