Does anyone know how to change the color that shows up
when you highlight text from black to a different color?

I changed the values in the registry for the DefaultIcon Key for
the Recycle Bin. I know I shouldn't delve into this area of the
Registry but I need a suggestion.
I find that on occasions when xp starts the Recycle Bin Icon reverts to the

I run XP with 3 different users. The other 2 users are not
admin.

One on the quirks in XP I don't like is when you open
Windows explorer and My documents is expanded.  I would
like to see My Computer expanded.  Can I change the
setting somewhere to reflect this?

this problem in Win 98 but it recurs in XP: if you clear
the "Animate windows when minimizing and maximising"
checkbox in Control Panel \ System \ Advanced tab \

After experimenting with the 120dpi font size for XP, the icon size for my
icons has increased.  Although the icon size is set to small, the icons are
considerably larger than before I experimented with the 120dpi system font.
It seems that the icons stayed at 120dpi when I returned ...

When I start IE, there is an attempt to load c:\searchpage.html. I deleted
this blank page. When ever I type a URL in the address bar, it reverts to
C:\searchpage.html. How can I correct this problem? Please let me know if

I've imported named color schemes into the registry key:
HKCU\Control Panel\Appearance\Schemes
I've also successfully created, edited, named and saved color schemes using
the PCMag utility "DisplaySet".  DisplaySet places a value name and data
