Just to let you know I solved the problem. With the assistance of the steps you had outlined I discovered the logonui.ex file had been changed and was able to change it back to the original with subsequent success.

in power options, the system never enter into standby.
Also,Standyby is not an option (highlighted) under "Turn

I just upgraded my HP laptop from XP Home to Pro.  Now
the touchpad mouse works differently.  If the pointer is
setting on a selection on the screen for a couple of
seconds without movement, that selection will be selected

the pictures you can assign to each persons account in xp
have disappeared(soccer ball,flower,etc) all 4 account
symbols changed to the chess pieces picture and now the

My company's administrator has installed one general
desktop background for everyone. I don't know how he has
taken away the rights from power users. I want to break
away from that. Can I change that using some technique ?

Has anybody got any idea how to place an image, let´s say in the
inferior right corner of the desktop? Whenever I want to set a
photograph as a wallpaper the only options I get are either tiled or
