Some programs generate a new ID each time they are started up, for some reason. This is very troublesoume, as Windows XP apparently recognizes them by this ID, and how you choose to display system tray icons is bound to these almost random ID's.

Waht is this serach assistant toolbar that is showing up on my task bar each time I startup XP?. Spybot and Ad- aware both dont detect it as malware. How do we remove this from our system?

Is there any danger in deleting the default user profile in windows xp. It is frustrating to find thing you thought were deleted in the default profile again and again such as programs or mp3 files. Help, please.

Why do I get the suffix [1] after the filename when I save a file by dragging it from Internet Explorer and dropping it into a folder? How do I stop it from doing this? I'm sure it used to work properly many moons ago...

When bringing my PC out of standby mode or booting up from cold apart from the usual yawning and stretching every PC goes through when booting I get a brief small black screen (such as in Start - Run - CMD) appearing. It doesn't seem to harm anything so need I be concerned?

Unopenable files labelled either "Thumbs" or "Desktop" keep appearing in my various folders. I keep deleting them but they reappear. I can't open them so have no idea what they're about. Any ideas?

When I Change the Properties of my folders to display for example Music CD Cover Pictures these properties will remain as such. I Select Apply then OK when finnished. The Pictures display for mabe 200 or more folders. Then the properties that I had previously changed randomly ...
