Can the recycle icon be remove from the desktop easily

i'm using windows xp home.  i want to reformat my c:/
drive to fat 32.  if i do this, do i have to reinstall

Have 64 new IBM laptops with XP going to the field.
Have hidden all the IBM/Windows/Norton/Messenger updates
icons on the task bar so end usrs cannot click on them.
However, the .net Passport reminder still pops up.

Is it possible to configure Windows XP Professional to show taskbar items in multiple rows, but only when necessary?  So there would be a single row until you got a certain number of items in there and then it would switch to multiple rows?

i have a scanner that when i scan docs i get a error
dialog box that "some files may harm your computer ....".
This is a [X] (check box) that is shaded to not display
this message, but i can't access it to stop it.  

Is there a way to have the program list automatically
expand when it's selected? Right now I have a few select
programs and then have to click on the down arrows below
the last program to see the entire list.

OK I know how to change the logon screen saver. I have a small batch
file to do it as part of our install process and it works. What I
would like to do is use our university logo and have it move around
the screen.

But since I have to live with it so many hours each day... I love the look of the azul background when I attempt to "turn off computer" (or restart, whatever)... it "goes grey" to a degree. Is there any way to keep that look 24/7? Thanks to anyone who would let me know. Yeah, ...

I am not sure what happened but since a week or two
before, my quick launch icons from my task bar
disappeared.
I have to "turn it on" everytime I reboot/power on my XP
