Have read that it is OK, and will in fact, speed up your

When I press the "minimize" button on the top right hand
side of an opened window. The opened windows is
minimized. However I cannot see its taskbar button.

I've been having a problem with some programs that automatically startup
when XP starts.  A folder opens up on my desktop instead of the program
executing.
Based on info I found from Doug and Kelly I determined that this was due to

After couple of toolbar's resizing, something happens and
I can't see active programs on taskbar. There isn't an
option to restore taskbar to "factory" settings or if you
prefer - defaults. So, only solution is to reinstall
