During boot-up and shut-down of my XP Pro system an unwanted photo appears on
the screen. It disappears when the system is finished booting up. I want to
remove it but I don't know how. I can't find where it is stored...any help
would appreciated. Thanks

I recall there being a programme that disabled the windows key when a
DOS based game was being played with win95 ..... is there similar for
win98. So far I have been unable to find.

I can't turn fast user switching on.  When I check it in the window for

I'm using Windows XP and since installing the new SP2, the auto updates
feature won't automatically obtain and install updates.
Instead, it loads the Windows Update website, but stops at that point.

Microphone does NOT work
I cannot have my microphone working. I used several microphones and tested
the audio card. It looks like an XP problem. In fact, the XP Guide states

How can a prevent a teenager from logging on our computer?  I have tried
changing her password, but she goes in and changes it again.  I do not want
her on the computer when I am not at home, and she is defying me.

I'm having two new problems:  
First, a new icon has appeared in my notification area that claims to be
updates for windows service pack 2.  However, it has nothing to do with
microsoft.  I haven't installed the "updates" but the icon in the

I would like to create folders in the quicklaunch toolbar containing
commands I often use sorted by categories.
I also would like to do that in the start menu, where the "pinned"
applications are placed (on top of the first column of the xp-style start
