Hi guys - I'm getting a new laptop to run my audio recording rig and the
problem is, although not ideal, i'm going to need it to be an "everything
else" laptop as well as a "recording" laptop.  It will be running Windows XP
Media Center Edition, 2GB Ram, 800Mhz FSB, P4 3.2 Ghz, ...

Is it possible to customize Windows Explorer to get a list of files and
folders with details in the right pane and a list of folders in the same
directory in the left pane (where file and folder tasks, other places, and
details are listed)?

Hey I have a random question, I am not sure if this has been asked.  But how
come in your advanced appearance options you can't customize the desktop
icons color. Say for example what if I have a black background and the auto
does: icons with a white background with black text ...

Anyone out there know if the proxy settings in IE can be controled via the
command line?  I want to write a quick batch file that I can click on that
will enable the proxy settings when I'm at work and disable them when I'm

I really need some help and don't know where to start! I have WinXP (SP2) on
a Dell Latitude D600 laptop. I am connected to the network at my place of
work and can also use it at home.
The problem is that at least 75% of the time, when starting Windows, I get

I have a group of phrases that I use over and pver again for my job.  Is
there a way in XP to configure certain key combos (i.e. ALT-Y) that will
simply enter the text string wherever I am working - Outlook, Word, etc?

I had initially installed ACDSee and used the change File Associations
for all Image files to be read by ACDSee.  However I noticed that my
"Active Directory Users and Computers" changed to be opened by ACDSee.
I opened up "Administrative Tools" and half of the icons showed an

like to edit it. The problem is I can't figure out where the actual pic is on

Hi all second request here,
I have WinXP pro and have the settings all set to Windows Classic (looks
like Win2K). Every time I view the control panel it shows it in list form.
I'll choose icon view and close it. When I open it again it shows in list
