is there any solution to code a luncher that enforce this compatiblity

On my new CD drive when I insert a data CD the drive is not being read -
when I right click and OPEN or EXPLORE I'm prompted to insert a CD. If I
insert a music CD it will read and play, if I then eject the music CD and
insert a data disc it is read ok. I have tried right-clicking ...

   As the story goes, we are supposed to install pgms as Admin for security
reasons, and then run them as User.  However, many pgms will not run as User
if installed as Admin.  How to fix this?

I teach computer introduction courses to seniors - typically people 60+ and
some in their 80's. Because of hand tremor a few have really major problems
with the mouse.

I want to write me a little batch file that gets passed the filename of
a .tex file and then invokes LaTeX on it:
e.g. it is called as:
mybatchfile  C:\foo\bar.tex

As you see from the following screenshot, my normal yellow folder icon
has mysteriously been replaced by a blue 'monitor' icon.

The correct one is still used in My Computer folders, as shown.

I use boot.ini to choose between uniprocessor and multiprocessor hals
using the /hal and /kernel switches. I have a hyperthreading Pentium 4
processor but some software won't work with the multiprocessor hal. I
have the uniprocessor hal and kernel named unihal.dll and unikrnl.exe

I want to be able to make windows explorer remember the view settings I have
for my folders. For example I would like some to be in thumbnail and some to
be in list and remain that way.

I've got a folder on my start menu that I can't delete.  When I try to
delete it I get a message that says:  "Startup is a Windows system folder
and is required for Windows to run properly.  It cannot be deleted."  The
